Movie Review: Labor Day

mrld

I knew from the moment I saw the trailer of Labor Day that I wanted to watch it and last week it finally arrived to theatres. It is not always the case that a movie turns out as good as promised by its trailer but it was just like that for labor day.

Starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin, Labor day is a story about finding love in the most unusual circuminstances and dangerous situations. When an escaped convict takes refuge in a divorcees house by threatening to harm her only son if she didn’t help him out, the experience turns from a frighting ordeal to a chance of finding everlasting love that is served with a delicious slice of warm peach pie!

The movie is both sweet and breathtaking, you are sympathetic yet a bit apprehensive of the love blossoming on the screen during the labor day weekend. There is an element of suspense where you find yourself at the edge of your seat looking out for the moment when the police finds out the location of the escapee and not knowing whether you should feel relieved or disappointed when it happens.

My favourite part of the movie was the ending, I cried throughout the last five or so minutes and I left the cinema in tears and craving peach pie like mad, is there anyone who makes such excellent peach pie in Kuwait? In any case, Labor day is a movie worth watching and will definitely join its fellow favourite movies on my DVD shelves.
